Artsignal and DSLCollection Partner to Advance Private Collection Intelligence

Artsignal has partnered with DSLCollection, one of the most focused and internationally recognized private collections of Chinese contemporary art.
Founded by the Lévy family in 2005, DSLCollection is known as much for the discipline of its collecting as for what it holds. Built through sustained contact with artists, studios, and the Chinese contemporary art scene, the collection brings together works by major figures including Zeng Fanzhi, Yang Fudong, and Liu Wei. These are works the family has lived with, studied, exhibited, digitized, and returned to over many years.
The founders often describe their approach as a bonsai philosophy. The collection is kept deliberately focused, pruned and reshaped with care, so that it remains coherent rather than expansive. This is a discipline of attention rather than optimization: a way of keeping the collection in conversation with itself. It also makes DSLCollection a natural partner for Artsignal. When the stewardship of a collection depends on research, context, valuation, and long-term interpretation, the intelligence around the works has to remain alive.
Under the partnership, DSLCollection’s holdings are being integrated into Artsignal’s platform. Each work is accompanied by an intelligence record covering its art historical narrative, provenance and exhibition history, cultural context, market outlook, valuation analysis, comparable sales, and analytics that update as new auction results emerge around the world. The aim is not to reduce a work to data, but to deepen the context in which it can be seen and understood.
Beyond the individual works, Artsignal gives the DSL team a wider view of the collection through portfolio-level reporting, market monitoring, strategic collection analysis, and a dynamic dashboard that shows the collection as a whole.
The collaboration will also support a series of case studies on the role of intelligence, research, and technology in the stewardship of major private collections. With its focused scope, international reputation, and twenty-year record of using innovation to expand the experience of art, from early online and virtual environments to VR, gaming, and now AI, DSLCollection offers a rich setting in which to examine how a private collection can operate as a living cultural, curatorial, and intellectual ecosystem rather than a static inventory.
Artsignal and DSLCollection share a basic conviction: the intelligence around a work is inseparable from the experience of it. Context is not a luxury. It is what separates encountering art from understanding it.
Artsignal is proud to be working with a collection that treats technology as a curatorial instrument rather than a convenience.
